bmx masters 2011
so, in a weak moment, i let my boyfriend convince me to sign up for the bmx masters. i’ve been thinking about going to the masters for years now and never had the guts to do it.
this year, i was sure that i wanted to go, but at first, i thought that i’d only go there to watch the contest and get to know the other girls.
well, somehow after some time i started to like the idea to compete there better and better. i signed up end of may. since that day, i’ve been thinking about the masters and riding my bike nearly constantly. first, it was more of a “shit, what have i gotten myself into? why am i doing this to me?”-feeling and i was more than nervous, but over time it turned out to be pretty motivating.
last year, i wasn’t as motivated to ride as i had been during the years before, so this was a welcome change.
i’ve been riding a lot again lately, i noticed that i’m not really as bad as i was thinking.
at the moment, i guess that i’m gonna do somewhat well in the contest… maybe i’m going to mess up all my tricks, maybe i’m going to be overly nervous and not able to think straight, maybe i’m gonna get hurt (just like on thursday when i slammed my bars into my ribcage)… but i don’t think i’ll make a fool out of myself. and that’s basically all i’m hoping for… this and having a really good time with new friends i will make at the masters.
so… here i come ![]()
looking forward to seeing everyone that i’ve so far only talked to on the interwebz!
bmx fun in april
julia preuss visited vienna in april. i recorded this combo just for fun – next time i will position myself much closer to her and use a decent camera, i promise!
i decided to try my luck at wallrides. i found this easy one, as it’s not very steep, and thought that it would be perfect for the first tries.
watch out for the thunderstorm-y sky!
roman and me went on a little daytrip to linz, where we met up with michel who sold me some used bike parts.
of course we met up at a skatepark, a very nice one, might i add! skatepark linz-urfahr, featuring “the boobie”

at the moment, i’m re-assembling my bike, adding all the new bike parts i purchased (wheels, fork, bars, sprocket), i also repainted the bars because i didn’t really like the black and purple the odyssey lumberjack came in. blue is my favourite color

let’s hope that my bike will be ready tonight and that the weather will be cooperative and allow me to try out my new setup!
yeah zine issue #2
i recently received a copy of yeah zine’s issue number 2. the envelope also included stickers and a button.
thanks to angie marino!
i really enjoyed reading it. it was an honor for me to be featured in it, even with 2 stories!
one story is about mizzi, the other story is about our 3 weeks camping trip through europe.
here are snapshots of the pages:

fatbmx girls week – featuring me.
fatbmx.com is one of the leading bmx websites out there. i was very honored when bart de jong asked me if i would like to fill out the fat favourites list for the girls week. the girls week is taking place from december 1st until december 7th and all news entries on the site are about girls. the site design has been changed to a pink theme

bmx edit 2010
last year, i was not as motivated to ride as i was in the years before. this was a whole new experience for me, because after all, bmx has been my main leisure time activity for the past 6 years.
i felt frustrated with my progress (or lack thereof), with the options for riding i had (spots, skateparks…) and with riding alone most of the time. this resulted in me riding only seldomly. it was weird not to ride every single time i had some spare time. i felt like i couldn’t identify myself with being a rider anymore. that was a strange feeling!
maybe i needed this little break. in 2010 i was hella motivated again. i have no idea where this motivation came from, but i’m glad it finally came back.
i put together a little edit of my riding. of course, because i didn’t ride much for a year (and maybe aswell because i’m getting older and more scared
), i’m not seeing as much progress as i was wishing to see. but still, i love riding and i’m proud of the things i have learned. thus, i wanted to share my footage with everyone who is interested.
here you go:
3 weeks camping trip through europe – video #1
this year, roman and me chose to do something different for our summer holidays: we rented a caravan and drove nearly 7000 kilometers through south europe. before i post about the trip in detail, i wanted to show 2 videos we made.
here is video number one: me, goofing around with my bmx on one of the camping places we stayed at. this was in “el escorial” in spain. enjoy!
…this line is just a joke of course. we just had a good time and tried to make the most of what we had to ride there.
flatland session
last weekend, i met up with a friend of mine, steffi jahn, at vienna’s finest flatland spot, the heldenplatz, to get some riding in.
we were accompanied by some of the flatland riders from vienna and two photographers, lars homann and aris krautwaschl.
they both took some very cool pictures of everyone. here’s one of me, that i like particularly. thanks to aris!
